When you arrive at the small harbor of Hudhuran Fushi island you realize again that you are on a special trip. Luggage handlers load your board bag and other bags from the boat into a truck, the only car on Hudhuran Fushi, a welcome gesture. The welcome ceremony continues in the resort foyer where you get some welcome drinks and a rundown of the resorts facilities, plus your beach house keys.

All beach houses are build around the islands edge, right on the white sand beaches. Palm trees provide a welcome shade over the deck chairs. Outside on the reefs edge you can see the breaking waves that make you immediately start mind surfing...

Hudhuran Fushi Island has one surf break named Lohi's and is a short walk from your beach house. It's a world famed left-hander that breaks just 30 meters of the shore. O'Neill organized the Deep Blue Open WQS here several times. Lohi's bar has a magnificent sun deck with direct view on the point, excellent for photography and filming. This ultra consistent left hander is reserved for resort guests only, which maintains exclusivity.

Maldives is a perfect place for couples. The island offers many excuses even if your partner does not want to know anything about surfing. Surf level: Advanced to expert only

Surf Season: The best of the surf season can be enjoyed between March and November with the biggest swells likely to occur in June, July and August. During these months conditions are predominantly off shore all-day and the swell direction is mainly south, south east.
Tip: If you want to avoid the crowds and have a chance to have the whole break to yourself go early in the season. Unlimited and perfect waves, not big, but occasionally shoulder to head high.

By surf boat: Explore more of Maldives and make a day trip to the famous breaks of Ninjas, Honkies, Cokes, Chickens, Sultans and Jailbreak. They are nearby but you will need to book a boat at the resort water sports centre to take you there, safely.

Beach House accommodation:

The very comfortable air conditioned beach houses are located around the islands edge, right on the shore. Every beach house has a private outdoors bathroom and shower. Television and mini bar finish it off. The interior is fresh and modern. Your house will be cleaned daily. You can leave your coconuts on the doorstep, the service attendants will have them cleaned and spilt upon your return. Just be careful walking under the coconut trees.

Water Villa accommodation:

Water villa accommodation with room service, all drinks. The water villas are build of the island on poles on top of the reef. The glass parts in the floor give a fantastic view into the big blue and the colorful creatures that live there.

Tickets

Tickets need to be booked into Male, the capital of the Republic of Maldives. Air Berlin and Qatar Airways have great options. Avoid flying British Airways, they do not allow surf boards on most flights.
